After two months of the job hunt, I’m re-employed -as a Video Game Concept Artist. A great help to me were the different employment resources available to job seekers. LDS employment had some great training classes on resumes, cover letters and so forth. During one of their presentations, they showed several transparencies of job related cartoons. The cartoons had been photocopied way too many times and were marginally legible. Upon learning of my artistic abilities, one of the instructors asked me to redraw them for their presentations. Out of respect to the original artist, I won’t be signing my name to them.

Here’s a sample of one of the revised cartoons:

One more helmet style-

Sideshow part II

Making those hoods (previous post) was fun. I decided to try my hand at making another helmet style. -This time with a Roman flavor.

In my spare time, I mod Dungeon Siege for fun. One thing I felt the original game lacked were hoods that the characters could wear. The game seemed to have every other kind of headwear except hoods. Why make a fantasy-based game without hoods? -I have no idea.
So, I went through some tutorials and modeled some hoods for the main playable characters in the game.

I’ve been working on some environment layouts to strengthen my portfolio. I was a little hesitant to start since I didn’t know how they would turn out, but was pleasantly surprised to discover I’m much better than I thought. I still realize that there is still a lot of room to improve, but am happy to see this level of artwork as a starting point.

I decided to take another character and do the same thing.
